Job Description

General Purpose:

Manage SHAPE Technologies Engineering Change Order (ECO) and Deviations processes, personnel, and systems, originating within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and/or PDM systems through implementation into Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and contract manufacturers’ systems.  Process changes and deviations through the established system and drive improvement in Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) covering backlog, cycle time and aging.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with IT and integrators to configure PDM Pro and PLM systems to enable the change control process requirements developed via cross functional collaboration.

  • Implement the system and document work instructions to train change originators and change analysts as necessary.

  • Deploy KPIs to track system performance covering backlog, cycle time and open aging.

  • Identify challenges and opportunities to drive to best in class goals for the above KPIs.

  • Recognize adverse trends in KPIs and implement appropriate steps to resolve them.

  • Manage standards for Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and Deviations content regard8hg completeness and accuracy and to define the implementation implications

  • Manage change analyst function as they execute

    • Review documents and engineering drawings for conformance to operating policies and procedures.

    • Ensure accuracy of part dispositions and effectivity for ECOs and Deviations.

    • Verify object level changes are correctly reflected in product structures/Bills of Materials (BOMs) in

  • Run the Change Control Board (CCB) meetings for cross functional review of ECOs defining the needed content for summary information and rough impact analysis for proposed changes.

  • Route ECOs and Deviations to responsible department(s) for review and approval according to ISO Document Control procedures. Ensure that ECOs are processed and approved in a timely manner and that relevant department(s) are notified of change/release/implementation of ECOs.

  • Audit ECO releases for accuracy from originating system (Enovia, PDM Pro, etc) to the respective transaction ERP system (Dynamics AX or QAD, CM, etc).

  • Train users on change control process and associated software tools. Test, troubleshoot and assist in the revision or reconfiguration of software tools, such as Enovia, PDM Pro AX, Solid Works.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with industry leading PDM and PLM enterprise systems and general knowledge of data elements of an ERP (BOM, Routes, Vendors, Transactions, etc)

  • Change framework and practices per Institute of Configuration Management (CMII)

  • Solid understanding of the relation between object Item Masters and Product Structures (EBOM and MBOM)

  • Understanding and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) practices per ASME Y14.5.

  • Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.

  • Ability to work overtime and travel in support of sites in the group of companies as needed.

Education/Experience and/or Training:

  • Quality Management Systems, Document Control, Engineering Services, Engineering Change management or Manufacturing Engineering

  • 10+ years operational experience

  • Attention to Detail, well organized, strong at record keeping and compliance management

  • Hands on problem solving experience.  Precise communicator.

  • Bachelor’s degree at a minimum.
