Job Description

General Purpose:

Serve as an escalation point for complex issues for the service desk team.  Installs new software releases and system upgrades, evaluates, deploys and installs patches, and resolves software related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintain system configurations and system deployments to ensure maximum availability.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose faulty components, recover data and perform or coordinate hardware repair. Perform system integrity and diagnostic scans of system components using various utilities.

  • Perform tasks required to maintain a cost effective and highly-available infrastructure, functions include managing disk space, CPU utilization, memory utilization, server patching, server configuration, application and others as required.

  • Manage the infrastructure, IT tools and processes. This includes a Windows-based desktop/server environment with Active Directory, SQL, Exchange and line of business applications such as Dynamics AX 2009, Dynamics CRM, Enovia PLM and various other in-house developed applications.

  • Must be proactive in identifying and resolving problems before they impact the users or a critical business activity. 

  • Provide technical support in storage systems, virtualization technologies, Microsoft server platforms, systems management tools and best-practices.

  • Must be able to organize, perform, and oversee complex tasks in a highly distributed global IT environment.

  • Ensure that all Service Desk calls or requests receive fast and effective response.  Ensure that all calls for assistance are resolved timely and users are apprised of the progress of their request.  Follow standard/defined process to promote and grow our vision of “simple, standard, one company".

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Experienced knowledge of network, server and system architectures, complex infrastructures and diverse hardware and software platforms is required in order to deliver the disciplines aligned with IT Service Management (ITSM)

  • Experience supporting storage technologies like SAN's, Backup Hardware/Software and data replication technologies

  • Expertise with Microsoft Technologies including current , desktop and server operating systems, Active Directory, Exchange 2010, SQL, SharePoint 2010, Lync, System Center 2010/2012, DNS & DHCP, Clusters and NLB.

  • Must be able to perform at a high level,  all tasks pertaining to IT operational support tasks and activities for a complex networked environment, including but not limited to desktops, servers, storage operating systems, business applications, telephony (including VOIP), wireless, mobile devices and related appliances/peripherals.

  • Must have the ability to trouble shoot, resolve, project manage and deliver solutions to complex issues. 

  • Understanding and experience using processes that detail best practices based on ITIL/MOF standards to enable and optimize IT services in order to satisfy business requirements and manage the IT infrastructure both tactically and strategically.

  • Goal oriented and a demonstrated ability to continually prioritize tasks, and work under pressure with sensitivity to deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Education/Experience and/or Training:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in area of specialty or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field or in a related area

  • Industry certifications preferred.
