Job Description

General Purpose:

The purpose of the Quality Engineer role is to monitor performance at a third party logistics provider, identifying opportunities and driving improvements in partnership with cross-functional representatives.  This position may be a 12-18 month position. We are open to private contractors with LLC's for this position.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive awareness of quality escapes from the third party logistics (3PL) provider by presenting and interpreting customer complaint data.

  • Drive the development and implementation of containment measures for the top escape issues identified.

  • Drive and actively participate in the investigation of root cause for recurring and systemic problems.

  • Ensure corrective actions are consistent with conclusions on cause and integrated into 3PL operating procedures.

  • Audit 3PL for compliance with committed corrective and preventive actions and compliance with operational procedures.

  • Interface with Flow personnel to manage inventory screening, quarantine/segregation of nonconforming material as necessary. Screening will require basic dimensional analysis of parts and visual inspection to enable rapid disposition and decision making.

  • Monitor problems identified with inbound material from Flow or Flow’s suppliers. Summarize and analyze the data identifying top opportunities for improvement. Drive improvement activity with Flow stakeholders and quantify impact at 3PL.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to interpret and analyze data needed to assess quality performance.

  • Strong problem-solving skills using structured problem solving approaches like DMAIC, 8D, Cause and Effect, 5 Why analysis etc

  • Ability to work independently or with others on projects and function effectively in a team environment.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Technical expertise.

    • Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings per ASME Y 14.5. 

    • Good working knowledge of computer analysis tools such as Minitab, Net inspect, Tableau, MS Office, etc.

    • Innovative/creative thinking.

    • Certified auditor qualification preferred.

Education and Experience

  • Preference for an Industrial or quality engineer (ie: ASQ (American Society for Quality) certified QE

  • 5 or more years of Quality and/or Production experience.
