Job Description

This role is responsible for planning material requirements for manufactured parts/assemblies to include meeting all inventory targets for on time delivery and days of inventory on hand. This position will coordinate, schedule, and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments and operations to ensure current capacity meets daily production forecasts and demands. Work independently on a daily basis with some limited guidance from the department supervisor.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Generate and release production work orders and prioritize build schedule to ensure finished parts are available for on time delivery of customer orders.
• Work closely with buyers to ensure purchase parts are ordered and available for work orders to be completed on time.
• Analyze demand and adjust stock quantities as required to maintain optimum days on hand.
• Ensure adequate plant inventory levels for work-in-process and finished goods and optimize inventory investments.
• Daily processing of all MRP generated messages.
• Monitor slow moving and obsolete material and recommend disposition.
• Plan, develop and manage production-demand plan.
• Analyze and update plans and schedules to meet production-demand plan to meet desired level of customer service (both internal and external).
• Track schedule adherence to ensure work orders are completed on time.
• Develop and recommend solutions to problems that may arise with assigned parts including scheduling production, expediting, quality, BOM accuracy and MRP issues, and then drive complete resolution on all issues.
• Professionally and expeditiously respond to inquiries from customer service and other internal customers regarding completion status of assigned parts and other inquiries.
• Support design changes and assist with implementation of new products and Engineering Changes.
• Monitor and control internal supplier performance using KPI metrics, and with manufacturing support, develop, coordinate and execute corrective actions for unsatisfactory performance.
• Monitor and control component level inventory utilization and scheduling activities to ensure the business needs are met.
• Using CIP and other tools identify, recommend, and implement improvements in processes and procedures.

Qualifications

• High level of knowledge of MRP and JIT planning processes.
• Experience with custom, highly engineered components and assemblies desired.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• High level of analytical ability where problems are complex.
• Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently on projects and function effectively in a team environment.
• PC proficient, working knowledge of MS Office applications, Microsoft Dynamics AX experience desired.
• Goal-oriented and a demonstrated ability to continually prioritize tasks with sensitivity to deadlines.
• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing production planning and scheduling desired.

Education/Experience and/or Training:
• Bachelor’s degree in related area, or equivalent experience and training.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a Planner in a manufacturing environment working with multiple level bills of material and multiple processes of production.
• APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) or equivalent training desired.
