Job Description

Who You Are.
The Senior Buyer is an integral part of the Materials and Operations team helping to ensure availability of the right materials, in the right quantity, at the right time, and in the right location to support global operations. With a strong background in purchasing and supply chain management, the Senior Buyer will take a proactive approach in reviewing current systems and procedures, making recommendations and implementing changes.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Determine buying strategy for parts (i.e. Kanban, VMI, consignment, ROP, MRP)
• Identify sources for supply
• Negotiate price, delivery and terms and conditions of purchased items. Engage in price negotiations to mitigate cost increases and obtain cost savings.
• Coordinate incoming material to meet demand, including issuing purchase orders and managing reschedule messages.
• Evaluate and maintain MRP for assigned commodities and ensure system validity and integrity by inputting and adjusting records as changes/requirements occur.
• Support the implementation and execution of forecasting activities.
• Interact with suppliers to ensure correct parts are delivered on-time and at the quote price.
• Lead and/or participate in projects related to part changes, supplier changes and process improvements.
• Effectively manage ECO implementations with suppliers
• Develop and manage PIPO (Phase in-Phase out) plans for transitions to new suppliers and/or part numbers
• Manage disposition of rejected, excess, and obsolete parts in accordance with company policy
• Coordinate resolution of invoice discrepancies.
• Participate on global commodity teams
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

You have:
• Experience working with complex BOMs and engineered parts.
• Experience setting up item/material master parameters in MRP.
• Ability to read and understand MRP signals, and identify potential issues.
• Ability to analyze cost/price factors for business awards.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated business and contract negotiation skills.
• Ability to analyze complex issues and make solution recommendations.
• Experience buying in a manufacturing environment.
• High level of MRP literacy. (Microsoft AX preferred)
• Demonstrated sense of urgency.
• Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
• Ability to work independently on projects and function effectively in a team environment.
• PC proficient, working knowledge of MS Office applications.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Goal-oriented and a demonstrated ability to continually prioritize tasks with sensitivity to deadlines.

Education and/or Training:
• Bachelor’s degree in related area, or equivalent experience and training.
• Minimum of five years’ experience as a buyer.
• APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent training preferred.
• Lean/Six Sigma practitioner preferred.
