SGS is seeking a full time Chemist to join the team in Alexandria, NSW
- Perform site sampling, laboratory analysis, and fieldwork for clients across various locations, ensuring accurate and timely results.
- Deliver independent test results that comply with relevant standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
- Support clients in determining compliance with environmental and industrial regulations through reliable testing services.
- Contribute to the development and expansion of the Industrial & Environment (I&E) business’s chemistry capabilities.
- Manage and execute industrial projects, ensuring quality outcomes and client satisfaction.
- Assist in maintaining a profitable core business focused on air, gas, and industrial chemistry services.
- Using ICPMS/GCMS/LCMS to conduct analysis of soil, water, air, gas and other samples as required.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with all clients keeping the focus on customer satisfaction and growing the business.
- Review and authorisation of test results.
- Assist in method development and validation activities.
- Perform industrial and environmental chemistry work as required.
- Maintain documented methods to ensure all procedures are up to date and comply with international best practice.
- Maintain equipment as required ensuring it is correctly serviced, repaired and properly calibrated with appropriate documentation.
- Maintain NATA ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements for all key testing services.
- Perform method audits.
- Maintain an understanding of the market, competition and client requirements in Australia.
- At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science &/or Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical)
- Several years of industry experience
- Background in analytical techniques use in chemical testing, industrial analysis, environmental analysis and occupational hygiene
- In depth knowledge both theoretical and practical aspects of chemistry and chemical analysis
- Thorough understanding of advanced analytical instrumentation such as ICPMS/GCMS/LCMS equipment and the legislation/standards applicable to the work performed.
- Technical and professional knowledge, especially air procedures and regulatory requirements
