Salary $ 75K - 85K

SGS is seeking a full time Chemist to join the team in Alexandria, NSW

 

  • Perform site sampling, laboratory analysis, and fieldwork for clients across various locations, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Deliver independent test results that comply with relevant standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications.
  • Support clients in determining compliance with environmental and industrial regulations through reliable testing services.
  • Contribute to the development and expansion of the Industrial & Environment (I&E) business’s chemistry capabilities.
  • Manage and execute industrial projects, ensuring quality outcomes and client satisfaction. 
  • Assist in maintaining a profitable core business focused on air, gas, and industrial chemistry services.
  • Using ICPMS/GCMS/LCMS to conduct analysis of soil, water, air, gas and other samples as required.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with all clients keeping the focus on customer satisfaction and growing the business.
  • Review and authorisation of test results.
  • Assist in method development and validation activities.
  • Perform industrial and environmental chemistry work as required.
  • Maintain documented methods to ensure all procedures are up to date and comply with international best practice.
  • Maintain equipment as required ensuring it is correctly serviced, repaired and properly calibrated with appropriate documentation.
  • Maintain NATA ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements for all key testing services.
  • Perform method audits.
  • Maintain an understanding of the market, competition and client requirements in Australia.
  • At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science &/or Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical)
  • Several years of industry experience
  • Background in analytical techniques use in chemical testing, industrial analysis, environmental analysis and occupational hygiene
  • In depth knowledge both theoretical and practical aspects of chemistry and chemical analysis
  • Thorough understanding of advanced analytical instrumentation such as ICPMS/GCMS/LCMS equipment and the legislation/standards applicable to the work performed.
  • Technical and professional knowledge, especially air procedures and regulatory requirements
