Job Description

  • Conduct first, second, and third-party audits against applicable food safety standards and certification schemes.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) implemented by clients.
  • Prepare audit plans, checklists, reports, and nonconformity findings.
  • Verify corrective actions and follow-up on audit findings.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation and certification body requirements.
  • Maintain impartiality, confidentiality, and professional conduct during audits.
  • Provide technical input regarding food safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Support witness audits, internal audits, and auditor calibration activities.

Maintain auditor qualifications and ongoing competency requirements

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Agriculture, Biotechnology, Veterinary Medicine, Microbiology, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the food industry, food safety, quality assurance, or auditing.
  • Experience with certification bodies is preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of food manufacturing, processing, packaging, storage, or distribution operations.

Professional Qualifications

Mandatory:

  • FSSC 22000 Lead Auditor certification (IRCA/CQI or equivalent recognized body).
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification (IRCA/CQI or equivalent recognized body).
  • HACCP certification and practical implementation experience.

Preferred Certifications:

  • ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification (IRCA/CQI or equivalent recognized body).
  • ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification (IRCA/CQI or equivalent recognized body).
  • ISO/IEC 17065 awareness or implementation experience.
  • ISO/IEC 17021-1 awareness and understanding of certification body requirements.
  • BRCGS Food Safety Auditor qualification.
  • ISO 19011 Auditing Techniques training.
  • Food Fraud and Food Defense training.
  • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) certification.
  • PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification for FSMA.
