Sample Preparation technician (7 Month Contract)

Job Description

This is a fixed term contract of 7 months.

This position will primarily be responsible for the preparation of seed samples for analysis and other miscellaneous laboratory assistant duties in support of analysis in the lab.

Responsibilities:

    • Sample preparation.

    • Plating and planting of seed samples.

    • Ensuring proper archiving, returning, disposal of samples as per company policies.

    • Archive documents and maintain a log. 

    • Washing, cleaning and maintaining work area as necessary. 

    • Assist in maintaining standards inventory. 

    • Maintain a clean working environment. 

    • Assist Laboratory Technicians as required. 

    • Perform assigned laboratory techniques according to written procedures. 

    • Conduct other minor laboratory duties that may be assigned. 

    • Complying to all Quality procedures and policies, and reporting discrepancies to Operations Manager.

    • Follow all company health, safety and environmental policies.   

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School diploma 
  • A post secondary education (degree and/or diploma) in a Science related program (Biology, Agriculture) is a strong asset. 
  • Experience in a laboratory setting is a strong asset 
  • Must be comfortable with numerals in order to monitor data on computer screens. 
  • Excellent visual acuity
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner. 
  • Proven ability to work efficiently in multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
