Job Description
Provide technical leadership, governance and independent assurance for Rotating Equipment engineering across the OLNG growth project. Responsible for ensuring process safety, asset integrity and machinery reliability across all project phases. The Jobholder shall act as the Technical Authority (TA 2) for Rotating Equipment, governing EPC deliverables, vendors and ensuring compliance with OLNG standards and lifecycle reliability objectives. The role will be in Project Office during project in Sur. Frequent business travel may be required.
Accountable for the development and implementation of the highest levels of Technical Rotating Equipment Engineering Excellence across the engineering, production, maintenance and technology within project and/or asset team.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create a strategic plan of action for the Rotating Equipment Engineering Services to achieve the goal of zero incidents at the Qalhat LNG Complex for project phase, including adoption of best practices from the industry and budget allocations.
- Build, coach, and performance‑manage the rotating equipment team; develop succession and capability.
- Manage interfaces with owners, EPC/EPCM, OEMs, utilities/authorities, insurers, and operations/maintenance.
- Provide executive‑level reporting and decision support.
- Set clear goals and expectations for team members, regularly assess their performance against the set goals, and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement
- Devote time to train team members on new ways of working, developing new competencies, and upskilling to drive performance and productivity
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Projects/Asset Management and Delivery:
- Oversee concept/FEED, detailed design, and interdisciplinary interfaces (civil/structural, mechanical, I&C, telecoms).
- Validate vendor data/OEM integration; ensure operability, maintainability, and reliability targets.
- Design the rotating equipment equipment, rotating equipment distribution and generation system in accordance with HSSE standards, OLNG standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Acts as the subject matter expert (SME) definitive source of knowledge, technique, and expertise within his/her area to provide professional and technical insight for design, engineering and/or complex trouble-shooting activities. “Mastery Specialist skills” on a selected equipment is desirable.
- Skills in load flow system studies, fault level calculations & rotating equipment protection relay grading
- Provide comprehensive support and expertise in technical studies for Rotating Equipment, and all associated components, including proficiency in Process and Instrument Diagram reviews, Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments, and HAZOP analyses.
- Well-versed in international codes, standards, and practices for oil and gas EPC projects.
- Oversee troubleshooting for all rotating equipment process incidents that may impact plant reliability and availability, utilising appropriate methodologies such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Tripod as required.
- Ensure complete as‑built, spares, O&M manuals, training, and warranty plans.
- Achieve performance tests and reliability run per contract, support RAM targets.
Strategic Planning of Departmental activities:
- Establishes and applies best practices within their area of expertise, leading teams through complex investigations and offering innovative, expert guidance in Rotating Equipment Engineering to effectively address technical issues encountered during maintenance and project execution.
- Define rotating equipment execution strategy, contracting model, and phasing; align with project execution plan (PEP) and governance.
- Establish design basis, standards, and assurance gates for the rotating equipment scope.
- Chair rotating equipment risk reviews, design reviews (rotating equipment), and rotating equipment readiness reviews (MC/Pre‑Comm/Comm/OR).
- Accountable for ensuring the technical quality of every aspect of Rotating Equipment Engineering projects, including developing and upholding assurance processes across procedures, organizational structure, other business units, staff, and corporate functions to effectively identify, monitor, and manage risks within the relevant business scope.
- Accountable for establishing and sustaining discipline engineering assurance functions, offering advanced specialist technical expertise to support other departments.
- Accountable for developing and implementing the long-term strategic plan for engineering discipline activities within the Asset Reference Plan, ensuring alignment with production, maintenance, and project objectives to achieve effective delivery.
Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as the primary senior company interface for the client on all rotating equipment matters.
- Manage strategic relationships with joint venture partners, key vendors, and regulatory bodies.
- Experience to manage CONTRACTORS & Project deliverables for owner is distinctly preferred.
- Negotiate settlement of major claims and variations related to rotating equipment scope.
- Builds and sustains productive partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders—such as area maintenance managers, turnaround managers, project managers, and senior leadership. This position requires dynamic involvement in several workgroups simultaneously, ensuring information is shared effectively throughout the organization.
- Foster technical innovation and ongoing improvement by seeking new developments, deploying opportunities, and engaging with leadership in line with OLNG’s core values and policies.
- Accountable for fostering and sustaining organisational alignment to achieve business objectives within the relevant discipline, while ensuring overall consistency with corporate goals.
Management of Engineering Contracts:
- Establish technical requisition requirements and evaluation criteria; provide leadership in Technical Bid Evaluation (TBE) and vendor selection for Rotating Equipment.
- Manage rotating equipment change orders, claims avoidance/defence, and commercial exposure for rotating equipment packages.
- Initiate new contracts for Major Rotating Equipment Maintenance & Projects and carry out technical evaluation.
- Responsible for planning major engineering contracts from the beginning, including developing contract strategies, evaluating and choosing contractors. Also ensures that significant contracts are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements.
Quality Assurance:
- Drive zero‑harm culture; ensure compliance with rotating equipment safety standards (e.g. DEP, where applicable).
- Ensure design and construction adhere to applicable codes, environmental and regulatory permits.
- Own rotating equipment QA/QC plan, ITPs, and non‑conformance management.
- Accountable that all the rotating equipment discipline procedures within an ISO certified quality assurance system.
- Accountable in setting the requirement of regular rotating equipment spare parts.
Qualifications
- BSc in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent.
- Minimum of 12 years relevant oil and gas industry experience with 8–10+ years in large industrial/ O&G projects with LNG experience
- 5+ years in leadership of multi‑disciplinary rotating equipment teams; track record of first‑time‑right energization.
- Technical Authority Level 2 (TA-2)
- Minimum 4+ years of experience in troubleshooting, analysis of Rotating Equipment
- Technical Authority Level3
- Demonstrated experience in the execution, engineering, construction, commissioning, or management of major industrial projects, preferably within the Oil & Gas, LNG, or energy sector
