Job Description

The Operations Supervisor (AGRI, MIN & OGC) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising daily operational activities related to managerial, administrative, and technical activities required for the efficient operation regarding the Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Agriculture, and Minerals sectors.

Responsabilities

Responsible for receiving inspection nominations and/or work instructions and ensuring their proper execution within the AGRI (Agricuture), Minerals, and OGC (Oil, Gas & Chemicals) sectors at the Branch.

Ensure that all client instructions are executed in accordance with SGS technical standards and promptly inform clients of any potential deviations.

Maintain regular communication with warehouses, terminals, and operational facilities, and keep management informed of ongoing activities.

Ensure that AGRI, Minerals, and OGC teams perform their assigned duties in compliance with the relevant inspection procedures.

Supervise all managerial, administrative, and technical requirements necessary for the effective execution of day-to-day operations across the sectors.

Leadership

  • Supervise and monitor all day-to-day operational activities.
  • Make recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the sectors.
  • Review and approve all internal operational reports issued by the Branch.

 Monitoring of Services Provided within the Sectors

  • Responsible for establishing the necessary instructions and documentation required for service execution.
  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of the Company's Quality Management System within the sector, in coordination with the Sector Manager.
  • Ensure the proper processing of all files and documentation, from receipt of service requests through to invoicing.

Management

  • Follow up on operational activities with the Line Manager to resolve discrepancies identified during service execution.
  • Monitor and address customer complaints in collaboration with the Line Manager.
  • Act as the primary interface between the Company and its clients.
  • Identify inspectors' training and development needs to ensure competency enhancement and service delivery excellence, in coordination with the Branch Manager.
  • Assist the Branch Manager in identifying and evaluating job responsibilities, team roles, and performance monitoring.

Administration

  • Prepare and coordinate, together with the Branch Manager or Quality Management Representative, the calibration program and maintenance plan for equipment.
  • Prepare and review all operational standards, procedures, and work instructions in collaboration with the Branch Manager.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by management to support the achievement of sector objectives.

Qualifications

Degree in Agronomic Engineering, Port Management, Geology and mining, Chemistry, other related qualifications or equivalent work experience.

Experience

  • 5 years’ minimum experience in operations (Minerals, Oil Gas and Chemical, AGRI Commodities)  
  • Exposure to inspection field services and experience in Health & Safety requirements, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.

Competence

  • Proficiency in Portuguese and English is an advantage.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships.
  • Good Verbal & Written skills and the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Flexible, self-motivated, and enthusiastic.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills and maintaining records.
