Job Description

SGS is seeking a Field Data Engineer (DAQ Engineer) to join our team on a full-time FIFO basis, working a 28:28 roster from Moomba, SA. This is a hands-on field-based role supporting well testing operations through accurate data acquisition, equipment readiness and real-time technical support to Well Test Supervisors and clients.

You will play a key role in setting up, operating and maintaining data acquisition systems, ensuring reliable information is captured and reported safely, accurately and in line with SGS standards. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys field work, problem solving, technical equipment, and contributing to safe and efficient oil and gas operations.

What you’ll be doing

  • Set up, operate and maintain data acquisition systems for well testing operations.
  • Deliver accurate test data and relevant information to supervisors and clients.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and implement corrective actions when required.
  • Support job planning by confirming equipment readiness and operational requirements.
  • Interpret P&IDs and assist with the correct rig-up of sensors and related equipment.
  • Ensure field equipment is maintained, functional and operated safely within specifications.
  • Comply with SGS policies, safety standards, quality systems and government regulations.
  • Contribute to safe work practices, hazard reporting and continuous improvement onsite.

Qualifications

What you’ll bring

  • Strong knowledge of data acquisition systems such as Fekete, SCAN, Fardux, WDSS or EDGE.
  • Basic understanding of well testing operations and cased hole activities.
  • Ability to fault find, troubleshoot and respond with practical corrective actions.
  • High level of computer literacy, including reporting systems, spreadsheets, word processing and email.
  • Experience proofreading reports and identifying data or reporting errors.
  • Professional communication skills, particularly when working with clients onsite.
  • First Aid Certificate.

This is a full-time FIFO position based in Moomba, SA, working a 28:28 roster.
