Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist senior staff with the execution of test work.
Follow written instructions.
Correctly fill in log sheets.
Responsible for ensuring turnaround time is adhered to for work specified regarding the Geomet department.
Responsible for carrying out the following work unsupervised:
- Crushing
- Milling
- Screening
- Particle Size Determination
- Cyanide Leaching (bulk cyanide additions)
- Titrations – free cyanide and residual
- Filtering
- Preparation of samples for analytical submissions.
Ensure that all the above work is done correctly to avoid contamination, sample loss, and sample swaps.
Ensure that all equipment is clean prior to and after a test.
Responsible for ensuring that the housekeeping for the laboratories and pilot plant area is kept up to standard.
Must be able to work in other areas of the Geochem laboratory if required to do so.
Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the direct line manager.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
B.Sc, BTech, or National Diploma in Analytical Chemistry.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years in the relevant field.
Solid Management/Senior Supervisory experience.
Validating and reporting results.
Solid Fire Assay technical knowledge.
Competencies
Good planning, coordination, and management skills.
Good team management and motivation skills
Strong, assertive leadership skills while maintaining good staff relationships.

- Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified, or when nonconformity is identified.
