Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming samples against accompanying documentation.
- Log samples and relevant sample details into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Assign and apply proper identification labels on samples and paperwork to maintain traceability.
- Communicate with clients or internal teams regarding sample discrepancies or missing information.
- Prepare and distribute samples to the appropriate laboratory departments.
- Communicate with the lab departments and management to properly prioritize samples.
- Maintain sample storage conditions (e.g., refrigeration) according to requirements.
- Ship samples for external analysis with completed sample analysis instructions.
- Drive company vehicle to pick up and drop off samples, as required. *Only after hired as an SGS employee.
- Prepare sampling kits and stock sample bottles.
- Assist with general laboratory housekeeping and inventory management.
- Follow strict safety, quality control, and chain-of-custody procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School or equivalent Required
- No experience required, unless required by state law Required
- Language Skills: Intermediate English Required (Advanced Preferred)
- Mathematical Skills: Basic Required (Intermediate Preferred)
- Reasoning Skills/Abilities: Intermediate level required, uses logical and practical approach to solve problems Required
- Ability to effectively communicate (in writing or verbally), presenting information individually or in small group situations to internal or external customers Required
- Ability to follow directions ensuring the end results are accurate and completed with the required timeframe Required
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations Required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Required
- Ability to work independently and under moderate supervision Required
- Team player attitude, customer care focus Required
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones.
- Position requires occasional overtime.
- This position requires use of laboratory chemicals, including acids and bases.
Additional Information
Compensation
The expected salary range for this position is $19.50 - $22.00 hourly. This range represents the minimum and maximum base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Actual compensation within the range will depend on skills, experience, and qualifications.
