Job Description

We are growing our Westport laboratory team and are looking for a Laboratory Technician to join our Geochemistry team on a fixed‑term basis for six months.

In this role, you will assist with the preparation, analysis, and reporting of Geochemistry samples while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, register, prepare, analyse, and report samples in line with laboratory standard operating procedures
  • Ensure results are reported accurately and within required timeframes
  • Maintain rigorous quality and documentation practices
  • Work closely with the Laboratory Manager and Quality Manager to support efficiency and risk management
  • Carry out all work in accordance with Health & Safety requirements
  • Undertake other tasks relevant to the role as required

Qualifications

About You

  • Previous experience preparing, analysing, and reporting samples (preferred)
  • Qualifications in a science‑related discipline are desirable but not essential
  • 2 to 5 years’ experience as a Laboratory Technician in a commercial Laboratory with high sample volumes and quick turnaround times/or Industrial Laboratory
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under time pressure
  • Ability to maintain clear and accurate records
  • Good computer skills, with confidence in report writing and verbal communication
  • A team player with good organisational and time‑management skills.
