We are looking for a Laboratory Assistant to join our Waihi laboratory on a 6‑month fixed‑term contract, supporting the preparation and processing of geochemical samples. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone reliable, detail‑focused, and keen to work in a laboratory environment.

About the Role

In this position, you will support day‑to‑day laboratory operations by preparing samples for analysis and assisting across multiple areas of the laboratory as required. You will work closely with the Laboratory Manager and wider team to ensure smooth and efficient laboratory workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Transport, organise, and prepare geochemical samples for analysis
• Ensure all laboratory workstations have samples available as required
• Carry out splitting, weighing, and digestion of samples
• Maintain cleanliness and general housekeeping of workstations and equipment
• Assist with basic administrative support and other duties as required
• Communicate effectively with relevant laboratory staff
• Undertake other reasonable tasks and projects as agreed with the Laboratory Manager

• Ability to work with others in a team environment
• Good organisational skills
• Professional and customer focus orientation at all times
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Flexibility to work across Monday to Friday, with 8 hour shifts
• Flexibility to change work pattern/shifts if required for business needs
