Job Description

The Senior Laboratory Technical Manager is responsible for the technical capability in analytical instrumentation, method development and laboratory project setup. This role will also support cross-functional teams including operations, quality, HSE, and commercial groups. The Senior Laboratory Technical Manager is client facing and will travel regularly to support lab sites and business projects.

  • Technical Operations and Instrument Support- Perform hands-on troubleshooting and performance diagnostics on analytical instruments (e.g., GC, FTIR, D86, flash point testers, octane engines)
  • Lead the planning, installation, commissioning, and qualification of laboratory instruments, ensuring alignment with operational requirements, quality standards, and long‑term capability needs.
  • Oversee method development, modification, and validation activities in accordance with regulatory and client requirements. Provide advanced technical training and guidance on instrumentation, procedures, and compliance expectations to technical staff.
  • Laboratory & Project Development- Ensure technical readiness during new site launches and relocations, recommending instrumentation aligned with analytical demand and testing scopes.
  • Serve as the technical point of contact for cross‑functional teams, supporting onboarding, RFPs, and client or stakeholder discussions. Represent laboratory expertise at internal and external engagements, including presentations, technical reviews, and collaboration with engineering, procurement, and leadership team.
  • Lead adherence to quality management standards (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 17025, related frameworks), collaborating with Quality Assurance on audits, investigations, CAPA activities, and documentation approvals. Oversee standardization and harmonization of procedures and technical processes across sites.
  • Support implementation of safe work practices aligned with corporate and site-specific HSE guidelines; Assist in laboratory hazard assessments, safety reviews, and mitigation measures for new equipment and procedures, and collaborate with HSE staff during audits, incident reviews, and safety improvement initiatives.
  • Provide senior-level support for field activities, technical escalations, site commissioning, and client visits. Travel up to 50% as required to oversee complex issues, ensure operational readiness, and support strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field — or equivalent practical experience  (Required)                         
  • 10+ years of firsthand laboratory experience in petroleum, chemical, or industrial testing sector (Required)
  • Advanced experience with instrumentation setup, repair, and method development (Required)
  • Advance knowledge of products and related test method (Required)   
  • Actual laboratory setup and project management skills (Required ) 
  • Experience representing organizations in trade shows, client demos, and technical symposia (Required)
