Job Description
- At all times, complies with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.
- Manage projects, being responsible for the entire order processing workflow (e.g., sample receipt inspection, test planning, order controlling, test monitoring, and invoicing).
- Performs secondary or upper level review of laboratory data calculations, integrations and interpretations, quality control checks, laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) entries, and other data management functions as required.
- Performs secondary or upper level review, as needed, surrounding third party subcontract laboratory data entered into the LIMS for reporting.
- Responsible for recognizing and correcting errors in lab results committed throughout the analysis process and approving for final reporting.
- Responsible for high quality and integrity of release of reports prior sending to customers.
- Understand the methods and technologies utilized and understand lab certifications quality control requirements to ensure they are all met prior to reporting.
- Advise our national and international external and internal customers
- Ensures lab deadlines are met and the GBS Team Coordinator (or section Lab Manager in their absence) is notified immediately if the turnaround time specified cannot be met.
- Ensures all testing methodology and quality control procedures are performed according to ISO17025 and assigned SGS lab standards where applicable.
- Performs other related duties as may be assigned either in support of departmental goals or for his/her personal or professional training, education or development as programmed by his/her immediate superior.
- Ensures work area in GBS is kept clean and presentable at all times.
- Remains familiar with SGS quality assurance procedures.
- Complies to all SGS QHSE and HR policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor of Science degree (Chemistry preferred) from an internationally accredited institution
- A minimum of 2 years’ prior experience with data processing (equivalent to Data Validator), including experience with LIMS and processing of data for methods to be assigned for review as Data Reviewer.
- Prior experience with Data Review of lab results
- Experience with headspace, gas chromatography, FID, mass spectrometry, possibly thermodesorption, environmental simulation, weathering tests, and fracture mechanics, as well as advanced knowledge of VOC/FOG analysis, is preferred
- Hands-on lab experience or training with actual or related methods to be reviewed
- Demonstrated commitment to data quality and operational excellence
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English language (B2 or C1 level)
- In-depth knowledge on quality requirements based on ISO17025 and country certifications
- Analytical instrumentation knowledge, particularly chromatography and mass spectrometry
- Strong MS Excel skills and MS Office programs
- SAP knowledge is an advantage
- Communicative and able to explain complex processes in a simple way
- Flexible and have a quick grasp of new tasks
- Can manage several processes in parallel while maintaining an overview.
