Job Description
Our Hamilton Branch is looking for an experienced Valve Technician to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for the refurbishment, overhaul, maintenance and testing of a wide range of valves including ball, gate, butterfly, control and safety relief valves. You will also carry out on-site Preven, Ventil and Ultra lift testing.
Key responsibilities include:
- Carry out valve refurbishments & overhauls
- Carry out on-site Preven, Ventil and Ultra lift testing
- Repair and test various valves, including but not limited to ball valves, gate valves, butterfly valves, safety relief valves, etc.
- Undertake Valve examinations, maintenance and repair
- Perform disassembly, cleaning, inspection, measuring, reassembly and testing of valves.
- Follow all schematics and documented procedures in accordance with all Quality Control and ASME National Board standards that apply to the job.
- Thoroughly complete all calibration and documentation associated with testing and repairs.
- Adhere to all safe working practices, look after yourself and those around you.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
- Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Fitter & Turner
- 5+ years valve-specific work
- A thorough understanding of API 526/527 standards
- Must have knowledge of Valve maintenance including Block, Ball, Gate, Control and Relief valves
- Must have instrumentation and control valve experience. Mechanical stroke testing of control actuated valves.
Mechanical understanding of tools, machinery and orifice measurements - Petrochemical industry experience (ideally 5+ years)
- Knowledge of gasket assembly, bolting and compression
- Current, clean NZ driver’s licence
