Job Description

  • SUMMARY

The QAN QAR Technical Project Manager is responsible for managing QAN QAR projects, conducting audits and handling related corrective actions.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct QAN/QAR audits to verify manufacturer and factory compliance to EN/ISO/IEC 80079-34, IECEx 02, ISO 9001:2015, and other relevant requirements.
  • Review client-provided QAN/QAR submissions to ensure documentation packages are complete prior to formal audit.
  • Prepare audit schedules, agendas, checklists, and supporting materials for internal and external audits.
  • Compile audit reports and technical documentation to aid Certification Decisions.
  • Document audit findings and NCRs clearly and objectively in QAN/QAR audit reports.
  • Review and evaluate client NCR responses and verify effectiveness of proposed corrective actions.
  • Prepare QAN and QAR certificates in strict accordance with IECEx and ATEX regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with audit, inspection and operations teams to develop annual QAN/QAR audit schedule.
  • Complete peer review of audit reports from peer/affiliate/contract auditors.
  • Maintain audit traceability, ensuring all evidence is appropriately collected, stored, and secured.
  • Process suspension, cancellation and reinstatement of authorized manufacturers and factories based on audit outcome.
  • Facilitate timely communication of findings and project status with relevant SGS teams (Certification, Quality, and Management).
  • Actively participate in and support external audits conducted by national and international accreditation bodies.
  • Assist in preparing responses to external customer or regulatory body audit requests.
  • Monitor recurring issues and trends to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct other specialized audits and surveillance inspections as required (KOSHA, KGS, INMETRO etc.)
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of internal policies, international standards and industry specific quality requirement changes.
  • Perform additional duties as required to support evolving needs of the Hazardous Location certification team.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:  

  • BSEE, BSCS or equivalent degree
  • ISO 9001:2015 lead auditor certification from an IRCA or equivalent certified coursework provider.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with IECEx/ ATEX manufacturer or Hazardous location conformity assessment bodies (Mandatory). OR equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred:

  • Authorized IECEx Quality Assessment Report (QAR) auditor
  • Prior experience in conducting or participating in internal and external audits. Prior experience reviewing IECEx and ATEX technical reports (ExTRs).
  • Good working knowledge of intrinsically safe design.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of NRTL, ATEX and IECEx regulatory requirements
  • ISO 9001:2015 or other equivalent quality system/standard requirements.
  • Knowledge of various Ex protection methods and the inspection techniques involved in facilities.
  • Knowledge of EN/ISO/IEC 80079-34 requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight.
  • Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy and good presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, good team spirit and adaptability.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with international SGS personnel and clients.
  • Computer Skills: Proficient in Excel and Office 365 applications.

TRAVEL

  • Travels up to 50% of time. Some travel may be international.

Salary Range: $120,000-$140,000
