Job Description

We are seeking a Lab Technician to provide on-site analytical testing at the Perth Airport laboratory. On this casual position your will ensure the safe and efficient running of our contracted laboratory operations while performing a variety of analytical tests with minimal supervision.

This role is a maternity leave cover from 16 March 2026 to 16 March 2027, offering a unique opportunity to step into a fully established laboratory position, gain valuable hands-on experience, and make a real impact within a high-performing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform sampling and testing of samples with accuracy and precision.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain analytical instruments, including: Karl Fischer, Flash Point, FTIR, Viscometer, Gas Chromatography, ICP, Auto Titrators
  • Maintain systematic laboratory records in LIMS, including calibration and test reports.
  • Generate custom trend data and reports using LIMS and MS Office programs.
  • Assist with development of analytical procedures using integrated knowledge.
  • Manage laboratory stock and ensure adequate supply based on usage forecasts.
  • Participate in safety programs and conduct job hazard analyses with OGC guidance.
  • Minimise rework and oversight through accurate, efficient work.
  • Perform general lab duties and support the ongoing development of lab operations.
  • Participate in site operation meetings and assist with analytical test method development.
  • Exercise cost control in provision of contracted goods and services.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and eager to learn.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Relevant Technical School qualifications or tertiary studies.
  • Experience handling petrochemical, gas, or chemical products.
  • Strong computer literacy and knowledge of quality systems.
