SGS Matrocast, a division of SGS South Africa (Pty) Ltd , is seeking to fill various roles in its Civil Engineering Site Laboratories in the Western Cape ares. The role includes but is not limited to to assist the Supervisor/ Laboratory Manager with all materials testing tasks, whether it’s on site or in the commercial laboratory. To clean all equipment on a regular basis. To complete materials testing in all laboratory division, including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, aggregate with bench calculation as and when required for testing.

Material Testers (Various Locations

• Must be Competent and qualified to execute all tests in one laboratory division (i.e.: soils, asphalt / seals, concrete /aggregate) with bench calculations.
• Fieldwork (densities, layer/stockpile sampling, manufacture and handle concrete cubes, DCP, Ring and Ball test (road surfaces), Sand Patch, On site Viscosity tests, Sampling of Asphalt and Bitumen

Senior Materials Tester (Lab and Fieldwork) (Various Locations

• Fieldwork (densities, layer/stockpile sampling, manufacture and handle concrete cubes, DCP, Ring and Ball test (road surfaces), Sand Patch, On site Viscosity tests, Sampling of Asphalt and Bitumen.
• Competent and qualified to do all tests in all laboratory divisions (i.e.: soils, asphalt / seals, concrete / aggregate) and do all calculations in full.
• Control laboratory activities i.e.: quality control under supervision.

Grade 12

• Language: Proficiency in English (Read, write, speak)
• Computer literacy in Word, Excel, Outlook
• Must be competent and comfortable with latest test methods

Sampling and preparation experience advantageous
• Administration experience will be Advantageous

• Control laboratory activities such as quality control under supervision.
• Physically able and willing to work with, move and pick up samples as and when required,
