Job Description

Join SGS’s Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team as our Client Service Officer, this is a Full-Time role based in Alexandria NSW, working hours 11am–7pm. Play a key role in delivering exceptional client service across our soil, water and air testing operations. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and supporting essential sample receipt and dispatch processes.

About the Role

As our Client Service Officer in Alexandria, you’ll be the first point of contact for EHS clients. You’ll manage incoming and outgoing samples, support laboratory workflows, and provide timely, professional communication to ensure an excellent client experience.

Responsibilities include, however are not limited to:

  • Deliver high-quality support to clients, couriers, and internal teams, ensuring smooth receipt and dispatch of samples.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients; keep clear records of meetings and discussions.
  • Prepare or organise quotations and assist clients with enquiries about samples, turnaround times, and service status.
  • Monitor KPIs for Alexandria clients and work closely with team leaders to resolve issues before they impact service delivery.
  • Receive, sort, label, store, and repack samples, completing all required checks and registrations accurately.
  • Collect samples from client sites and conduct on-site sampling following approved procedures.
  • Use PPE correctly and report any unsafe conditions immediately.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • A scientific qualification (Diploma or Tertiary), or minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in an environmental laboratory or client services environment (preferred).
  • Ability to obtain certifications/work permits such as a white card or MSIC (if required).
  • Physically capable of handling samples (10–15kg) and comfortable being on your feet for extended periods.
  • Current driver’s licence with a good driving record.
