Our Energy Minerals Division provides high-quality, independent coal analysis and services to many Australian and international coal companies.  We have NATA accredited (ISO/IEC 17025) coal laboratories servicing all major coal ports in Australia and have significant involvement with the superintending of coal exported overseas, quality control at mine sites / power plants and borecore evaluation.

Job Description

Join our team as a Coal Technician and play a hands-on role in delivering accurate, high-quality sample collection and analysis for CHPP and train operations. You'll be working in a dynamic environment, supporting essential testing processes that meet both site protocols and Australian/International standards.

Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Follow correct procedures for sampling, preparation, analysis, and reporting
  • Ensure all work is completed accurately and on time
  • Maintain precision and traceability of all samples
  • Support the maintenance of lab and prep equipment
  • Promote and maintain a safety-first culture
  • Communicate effectively with previous and next shift
  • Stop use of unsafe or faulty equipment and report immediately
  • Perform routine sampling, prep, and analysis for shipping and exploration
  • Plan daily tasks and coordinate sample pick-ups and testing

  • FIFO 7/7 Day/Night 12hr shift rotating roster
  • Flexibility to work across various sites based on business needs
  • Will perform duties within their classification level and scope
  • Contribute to a clean, safe, and professional environment by maintaining work areas, company vehicles, and shared site facilities.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Experience in coal sampling, preparation, and testing, or in a general mineral laboratory environment (preferred but not essential)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Flexibility to work a 7/7 day-night roster
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a small team in remote locations
  • An open manual Australian driver’s licence (preferred)
  • Standard 11 certification
  • Undergo a pre-employment medical and health assessment
