Job Description

Our Scott, LA laboratory is looking for a Team Lead to join their Wet Chemistry team! The Laboratory Team Lead’s primary responsibilities are to manage all aspects of workflow, including scheduling overtime, to ensure client results are reported on-time with the highest quality; prepare and analyze samples per SOPs, and scheduling completion of quality requirements.

Job functions:

  • Manages all aspects of workflow to ensure turnaround times are met consistently and data is of highest quality.
  • Stays abreast of production needs throughout the day, plans ahead based on incoming work, assigning tasks to team members and scheduling overtime, as needed.
  • Utilizes problem solving skills to perform analyses on samples of different complexity (routine, moderate complexity, and complex) according to SGS’ analytical SOPs using instrumentation specific to the department and analytical methodologies.
  • Performs routine operation, maintenance, calibration, and trouble-shoots laboratory instruments/equipment.
  • Develops and validates analytical methods, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other operating, safety and quality documents for method development, transfer, and validation studies.
  • Provides training to technicians and analysts, upon hire and as needed.
  • Reviews processes for improvement and troubleshoots errors.
  • Tracks errors and leads corrective action plans, using root cause analysis and continuous improvement process.
  • Communicates errors with staff through training and monitors team productivity KPIs.
  • Provides exceptional customer service, both internal and external clients.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Chemistry or similar scientific discipline or 5 years of relevant experience in Analytical Chemistry Laboratories (sample analysis) and 1+ year of method development and troubleshooting experience (Required)
  • Advanced English language skills (Required)         
  • Intermediate reasoning and mathematical skills (Required)
  • Intermediate computer skills (Required)
  • Strong attention to detail (Required)
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull upwards of 25 pounds on a frequent basis (Required)
