  • Location: Avonmouth, Bristol 
  • Hours: Annualised hours contract- Average 48 hours per week (working around ship and vessel times)
  • Salary: £30,000- £32,000, including company vehicle, and 10% bonus 
  • Industry: Oil and Gas 

Job Description

We are seeking a Trainee Cargo Inspector to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals interested in the logistics, shipping, and inspection industry. No prior experience is required, as full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in inspecting, sampling, and measuring cargo shipments, including petroleum, chemicals, and dry goods.
  • Monitor loading and unloading operations to ensure compliance with safety and industry regulations.
  • Conduct quality and quantity assessments of cargo at ports, terminals, and storage facilities.
  • Record and report findings accurately and submit documentation as required.
  • Work closely with senior inspectors, port staff, and clients to ensure smooth cargo operations.
  • Follow health, safety, and environmental guidelines.

Qualifications

What we're looking for: 

  • Willingness to work in a physically demanding, outdoor environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow strict procedures.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic IT skills for report documentation.
  • A valid driver’s license (Essential).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and night shifts.
