Job Description

SGS is seeking enthusiastic casual staff to be trained as an Assistant Geotechnicians to conduct destructive and non-destructive testing of construction materials, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality service for our clients.

This is a casual role, and applicants must be based in Kalgoorlie.

 Responsibilities are included but not limited to:

  • Assist with the initial preparation of samples for testing.
  • Perform routine testing.
  • Collect and log samples.
  • Perform routine calibration and setup of equipment.
  • Carry out routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and working areas.
  • Ensure safe working practices are followed.
  • Correlate test data for evaluation by a higher classified person.
  • Prepare data to be reported by senior staff.
  • Contribute to team discussions in relation to the continuous improvement and efficiency of the laboratory.
  • Perform other duties as required in the laboratory.

Qualifications

To be successful for this role you will have:

  • WA C Class Drivers Licence
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to perform physically demanding tasks as well as computer based work
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
  • Good grasp of numbering and ordering
  • Applicants must be based in Kalgoorlie.
