Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
All operations within the Logistics Department relating to Sample Receiving, storage, logging and Tracking at Randfontein Laboratory.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive, sort, weigh and label as per Sorting, receiving competence modules.
- Track samples/jobs as per Sample Tracking working instruction.
- Assist with storage duties as per Storage, return or discard working instruction.
- Communicate with Logistics Supervisor regarding the daily operations in the Login department;
- Report immediately any discrepancies, broken or thorn parcels found during sorting to the Logistics Supervisor. Ensure all jobs/samples are profiled in SLIM accurately and in a timely manner after sample sorting.
- Ensure all paperwork is scanned daily accurately.
- Report immediately any equipment that is not functioning correctly to the Logistics Supervisor
- Ensure that housekeeping, health and safety and quality policies and procedures are followed and adhered to.
- Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.
- Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.
- Document all samples received in register
COMPLIANCE & AUTHORITY
- Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or enter hazardous environments without the necessary knowledge and protection and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
- Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and report the situation to higher authority to take action.
- Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified.
- Any person has the right to refuse to perform work that may damage the environment in an imminent and serious way and to report such a situation.
Qualifications
Education
- Minimum Grade 12
- Mathematics and Science will be added advantage
Experience
- Previous experience on Sample Logistics, preparation and analysis of samples would be advantageous
- Experience and understanding of the information management system
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Fluent in English (read, write and speak)
- Good Analytical Skills
