POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for delivering on top line revenue as well as growth and LC targets by managing sales strategies and securing business development opportunities for Minerals across the NAM region: US and Canada. Proactively researches and develops new products to bring to NR Minerals service portfolio and develop strategic growth initiatives and tactical sales execution plans for growth.   Provides leadership, development and mentoring to the sales team.  Defines qualitative and quantitative sales targets which will meet the company's budget and objectives.   Establishes commission and reward schemes which will cost effectively motivate and drive the sales team to exceed their targets and drive cross-selling. Constantly monitors and strives to improve the performance and effectiveness of the sales function.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Sales Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve business objectives and revenue targets.
  • Analyze market trends and identify opportunities for growth within the natural resources sector.

Team Leadership: 

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of sales professionals to ensure high performance and achievement of sales goals.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven team environment.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders in the natural resources industry.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and address any issues or concerns promptly.
  • Business Development:
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and partnerships to expand SGS's market presence.
  • Develop proposals and negotiate contracts with potential clients.

Market Analysis and Reporting:

  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to inform sales strategies.
  • Provide regular reports on sales performance, market insights, and forecasts to senior management.  Collaboration with Other Departments:
  • Work closely with other business units, such as operations, marketing, and finance, to ensure alignment and support for sales initiatives.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to understand and promote SGS's service offerings.

JOB COMPLEXITY

  • Constantly monitor the competitive landscape and market conditions to identify opportunities, issues, and risks in order to recommend tactical strategies.
  • Develop new services/products and concepts for the assigned market segment. Develop the Minerals business throughout NAM organically
  • Work with other business line managers to promote SGS services to enhance opportunities
  • Must use skilled judgement in identifying sales opportunities, closing business and resolving customer related issues Develop and implement marketing campaigns.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary education required (University degree) in a related field (Geosciences, Civil Engineering or Technology etc.) with a heavy emphasis on sales.
  • Over 10 years of experience in a Sales Leadership and/or Business Development role in a related field.  Knowledge of the Metals, Minerals, Mining and or TIC industry sector is required. Preferred
