Job Description
Join our team as a Site Cleaner, where you'll play a key role in maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and order across the site, including common areas, office spaces, and laboratory areas. This dynamic role also includes minor maintenance, waste management, and providing support during busy periods.
This is a full time permanent position based in Alexandria, NSW.
Responsibilities includes but are not limited too:
Cleaning and Hygiene Maintenance
Clean and sanitize common areas, including:
- Toilets and restrooms, Lunchroom and kitchenette areas.
- Office and Laboratory spaces.
- Deep clean fridges, dishwasher and microwaves regularly.
- Communal spaces and windows and other high-touch surfaces as needed.
- Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies.
Waste Management
- Empty all garbage bins daily.
- Ensure proper segregation and disposal of waste, including recyclable, general, and hazardous waste.
- Collect and assist in the disposal of laboratory retention samples, hazardous materials, and other waste in compliance with safety protocols.
Site Maintenance
- Perform small repairs and maintenance tasks, such as fixing hinges, replacing lightbulbs, or repairing minor equipment issues.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs and report major repairs to management.
- Monitor and clean outdoor areas (e.g., parking lots, pathways) to ensure safety and cleanliness.
Support for Laboratory and Warehouse Operations
- Maintain warehouse housekeeping by organizing storage spaces and cleaning floors being compliant with regulations..
- Support laboratory assistants and technicians by preparing workspaces or helping with non-technical tasks.
Team Support and Miscellaneous Duties
- Provide assistance to other sections as directed by manager and when required, adapting to changing priorities.
- Set up or clean meeting rooms and shared spaces for events or team gatherings.
- Assist with moving office, Lab furniture or equipment when necessary.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in cleaning, facilities maintenance, or similar roles is advantageous.
- Familiarity with workplace safety regulations and procedures.
- Willingness to undertake training in hazardous waste handling and laboratory operations.
- Ability to lift and move items up to 20kg.
- Comfortable performing physical tasks such as bending, standing, and repetitive motion.
- Willingness to work in various environments, including laboratories, warehouses, and office spaces.
