Site Supervisor

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

To assess the sampling activities carried out on site by samplers, as well as the sample preparation supervisor, to ensure:

  1. Sufficient staff are on site
  2. Staff performing sampling per SoP/Mission Order
  3. Deviations and issues from site are recorded and reported continuously
  4. Supervise and report if staff are deviating from SGS policies surrounding ethics and integrity
  5. Carry out training where needed for staff
  6. Monitor staff times on site
  7. Assist in the training, coaching and counseling of full-time employees, sub contractors and part time employees in conjunction with the branch manager to ensure continuity of competencies to underpin the growth strategies
  8. Ensure that all SGS equipment (Camera, vehicles, prep equipment if needed) is respected and maintained in good working order
  9. Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system
  10. Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by direct line manager.

 

SPECIFIC AUHORITIES

  • Cease the use of any equipment that may be deemed to constitute a safety hazard or enter hazardous environment without the necessary knowledge and protection and report the situation to higher authority to action
  • Cease to carry on with work that may affect the quality (integrity) of services and report the situations to higher authority to take action
  • Initiate a formal improvement request when a deviation of the system occurs, possible improvements are identified or when nonconformity is identified
  • Coordinate quality across Trade sites PE
  • Plan staff requirements with PE supervisors.

 

Key Performance indicators

  1. Reporting deviations on site staff and correcting these with immediate supervisors
  2. Providing updates on inspections through watsapp and email
  3. Authority to discipline and remove staff that do not comply with SGS policies and rules as well as those that consistently not perform according to their planned tasks.

Qualifications

Education

  • Minimum Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Computer Literacy in Word and Excel, Microsoft outlook

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of Trade related experience or similar
  • Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Speak, Write)
  • Typing Skills
  • If the incumbent is new in the industry, background and qualifications shall be a criteria

 

Requirements

  1. Sampling procedure knowledge of minerals
  2. Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Write, Speak)
  3. Any other languages an added advantage
  4. Drivers license.
