Job Description

The Onsite Operations Supervisor is responsible for all activities, operations and staff while onsite.

•    Supervise staff to carry out laboratory analysis according to established methods and meeting Quality Control (QC) standards.  
•    Solve day to day production and process problems within the laboratory.  
•    Schedule workflow through the department so that client deadlines are met; monitor throughput and performance.    
•    Monitor and maintain lab QC standards. Responsible for the quality of all data released by the laboratory while under their supervision.    
•    Attend regular client meetings (daily/weekly) and communicate day to day concerns regarding the laboratory’s performance to the client.    
•    Provide timely updates and feedback on any safety, quality, staff, client or other operational related issues to the Regional Operations Manager    
•    Attend and provide a report for the weekly regional Geochemistry conference call    0
•    In conjunction with the Regional Operations, Technical and QA managers, plan and initiate procedures to ensure the company quality program is preserved and oversee quality audits.    
•    Work in partnership with the Regional Operations Manager and other supervisors to solve client problems to ensure quality and customer satisfaction standards are met.    0
•    Assist Regional Operations Manager in the recruiting of new technical staff for the laboratory as required.    
•    In conjunction with the Regional Operations, train and motivate staff, set goals, review performance and assess training needs, at least once a year.    
•    Plan and initiate procedures and systems necessary to ensure the maintenance and improvement of the company quality program.    
•    Accountable for maintaining production and quality targets and ensuring optimal staff levels to achieve production, quality and financial targets.    
•    In conjunction with the Regional Operations, responsible for designing, co-ordinating and executing training programs that are consistent with management objectives, includes quality system awareness, continuous technical improvement and personnel performance reviews.    
•    Ensuring each person within their responsibility has undergone an orientation and has sufficient knowledge for their safety and health while at work.    
•    Ensuring that each person has sufficient information, resources and materials to do their job safely.    
•    Directly responsible for their area housekeeping and cleanliness on a daily basis.    
•    Accountable for routine and non-routine equipment maintenance, including advising the client on immediate repairs and maintenance requirements.    
•    Directly responsible for ensuring all safety equipment is in place on a daily basis.   
•    Works as part of the production team as required    
•    May be assigned and asked to co-ordinate special or ad hoc projects as needed.   


 

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Education: A post-secondary education (degree and/or diploma) in a Science related program (Chemistry, Geochemistry, Biochemistry, Geology, Mineralogy or Chemical Engineering etc.) is required for the majority of these positions.
  • Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant laboratory work experience required.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of previous supervisory experience is required.
  • English and French are required
