We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Chemist to join our team in Jeddah. Reporting to the Lab Manager, the ideal candidate will take part in Jeddah Geochem lab construction, equipment fit-out and operation start-up stage involving coordinating logistics, keeping tracking of task completion deadlines and supervising lab fit-out in accordance with SGS design plan. 

Job Description

  • Prepare lab smooth start-up by working in the areas of equipment / instrument verification, planned methods implementation, supply items readiness and staff training.
  • Assist with safe keeping of equipment / instrument and spare parts received from both local and oversea suppliers during lab construction, fit out and start-up stages.
  • Assist with on-going lab building construction in respect of equipment / instrument layout following lab design plan.
  • Assist with equipment / instrument installations, conduct test runs, and accept job completions (focus on laboratory equipment).
  • Gather updated SGS method documents based on projected scope of services and prepare required supplies in time for lab start-up.
  • Prepare for SGS LIMS implementation prior to lab start-up.
  • Create and maintain equipment / instrument and supply inventory tracking and ordering system.
  • Create and maintain equipment / instrument registry, repair and preventive maintenance log.
  • Create and maintain staff training and competency record.
  • Liaise with lab manager / HR in new staff selection and recruitment.
  • Perform directly and/or supervise staff training based on SGS SOPs.
  • Schedule staff shifts and prioritize works in lab to meet expected TAT.
  • Take a part in lab improvement project as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of laboratory working experiences including 3 years supervisory roles
  • Education background in chemistry or related field required
  • Method development / instrument operation training course completion certificate preferred
  • Management course completion certificate preferred
  • First Aid certificate preferred
  • Fluent English language
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Advanced MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail communication skills
