PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Regional Project Manager’s main objective is to manage and monitor the progress of existing and new global projects with regards to Health & Safety services in the region.
  • He/She will function as the interface between a multi-national client and SGS network during the project phase and is expected to deliver services with efficiency and professionalism.
  • He/She will be responsible to oversee initiating, planning, implementing & closing of the project while ensuring it is within the agreed Quality / Costs / Time / Organization framework.
  • He/She shall build a close relationship with the client to identify additional possible business opportunities (not limited to Health & Safety services).
  • The following services will fall under his/her responsibility:
    • Occupational Health / Hygiene: this includes traditionally sampling, lab testing and risk assessment, asbestos testing, surveys & inventories, Indoor Air Quality, Noise, Ergonomics, Legionella risk assessments etc.
    • Occupational safety: this includes services related workplace safety, hazard identification & risk assessment, risk control surveys & audits, disability access audits, occupational health & safety management and outsourcing etc.
  • Countries of focus: Americas (i.e. USA, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Panama) with close collaboration with equivalents in EMEA and APAC.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include following activities but are not limited to:

  • Maintain/develop a positive and productive business relationship with client by
    • securing current business,
    • maximizing international work opportunities,
    • optimizing new work potential,
    • facilitating day-to-day operations,
    • resolving problems,
    • avoiding claim situations or loss of work.
  • Act as the initial point of contact with client, facilitate effective coordination of job orders, enquiries and technical exchanges between SGS affiliates, offices and personnel involved in the execution of the contract (local KAMs, coordinators).
  • Follow-up client requests & mobilize appropriate resources to support smooth operations
  • Support SGS network in identifying cross-countries solutions for sampling, testing or auditing and proposing them to key clients. As instructed prepare cost proposals and tender submissions relating to Occupational Health and Safety services.
  • Look for solutions in case affiliates cannot deliver locally the required services
  • Assure that requests are properly handled
    • Support accurate and efficient field work tasks.
    • Support accurate and efficient sample analysis and general laboratory work and where relevant, maintenance of applicable accreditations
    • Interpretation or results and provision of recommendations relating to such results
    • Assist company management in the development of occupational, health and safety training packages
  • Arrange and attend regular meetings with clients (global, regional and local) for induction trainings, technical governance, performance reviews, resolution of conflicts, delivery of invoices and reports
  • Perform project related induction training session for SGS local Project managers
  • Collect and maintain client related KPIs
  • Within the scope of the contract, review and propose improvements of existing policies and procedures as appropriate in accordance with key clients and SGS network
  • Implement corrective actions together with the SGS network
  • Assist in the development of less senior staff in Occupational Health and Safety evaluations
  • Establish key client processes to ensure efficiency in handling client projects with the SGS networks
  • Wherever possible, promote the company’s services to prospective clients.
  • Regularly report to I&E management on client status and issues
  • At all times, adopt a safe behavior by exercising due regard for the Health & Safety of SGS employees and clients, in line with SGS policies and procedures
  • At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.

Qualifications

PROFILE

  • Degree in Industrial Hygiene or Safety Engineering (min. bachelor’s degree). A certified hygienist degree (CIH) or a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the related field (project management in Health & Safety services or Industrial/Occupational Hygiene),
  • Knowledgeable of relevant laboratory and sampling procedures, relevant analytical methods, acts, regulations, codes of practice and guidelines related to Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Global exposure in project management, and relationship with major international corporations is a plus.
  • Languages: Fluent in English. Strong proficiency in Spanish is preferred. Other language proficiencies are a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and networking skills.
  • Technical computer skills with MS Office tools and internal systems.
  • Ability to identify opportunities and to build robust plans and winning proposals.
  • Strong service-oriented mindset and client management skills.
  • Able to maintain a high standard of professionalism and presentation.
  • Highly dynamic and able to adapt in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate several activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to travel (max 25% of working time)
