Commodity Coordinator: Fertilizers, Dry Chemicals and Industrial Metals

Job Description

The Commodity Coordinator for Industrial, Fertilizers and Energy Materials is responsible for coordinating all activities related to providing excellence in inspection services for Industrial, Fertilizers and Energy commodities. The coordinator will work with an administrator(s) and data capturer(s) to plan, execute, report and handle all queries related to Industrial, Fertilizers and Energy commodities inspections.

  • Generate proposals for Industrial, Fertilizers and Energy commodities
  • Update the proposal register regularly showing accepted and rejected proposals
  • Register all accepted inspections within 48 hrs on the company BOSS system
  • Coordinate the inspections with the relevant branch supervisors, and ensure the correct inspection scope is applied through effective communication. That is, any changes to scope must be promptly shared with the branch supervisor
  • During the execution of inspections, provide daily updates to the clients in the form of brief statements, a summary of results and picture reports
  • Maintain proper document control for each inspection by updating SharePoint folders with pictures, field reports, results, calculations, reports, certificates (drafts and finals), invoices (pro forma and final) and other project-related information.
  • Troubleshooting queries for each inspection by coordinating with relevant divisions and personnel within SGS to effectively address the query
  • Provide effective customer communication by attending to queries/issues promptly
  • Coordinate duties with administrator and data capture by delegating effectively to team members
  • Maintain quality, efficiency and confidentially of services
  • Communicate with other branches/divisions and the laboratory to achieve the required turnaround time for all activities
  • Proper implementation of the SGS SIR platform by uploading necessary information timely
  • Guide and assist junior staff development
  • Required to attend to client/work-related issues after hours if necessary

Assist with petty cash handling, travel booking and other SGS administrative functions as required by Manager

Qualifications

  • Matric [minimum], preferably with Maths and Science.
  • Post matric qualification, such as administrative, project management or general management
  • Languages: Proficiency in English (Read, Speak, Write)
  • Excellent Typing Skills
  • Computer literacy in Word, Excel, the SGS SIR platform, and the SGS BOSS system is a must
  • Calculation capability — to ensure accurate scoring of client’s results
  • Excellent Technical Report writing ability
  • More than 8 years of experience in a commodity trading or inspection-related environment
  • Strong Leadership skills in managing multi-discipline teams
