The SGS Connectivity & Products Division is accelerating its development in North America (NAM), and we are looking for a Business Development executive to spearhead this initiative. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President (EVP) and with a dotted line to the Regional Chief Operating Officer (COO), your role will be to work with senior stakeholders and strategic business units to build a 5-year business plan and implement it.

What will success look like in this position?

  • We see ourselves investing further and developing a foothold in emerging markets such as Internet of Things (IoT), Wifi and Cyber Security. Your job will be to analyze these new markets, speak to our existing clients, and use this information to help us design new services and a market penetration strategy.
  • We don’t want to forget about our established areas such as the Automotive and Medical Device sectors and our Hardlines and Softlines testing, inspection, and certification services. We see you keeping our business abreast of industry trends and helping us to evolve our service offering. 
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to design and propose a full 5-year growth plan with a clear action roadmap which align with our corporate and business unit strategic goals. You will be accountable for the achievement of the core milestones.
  • Bring together your project team from across the business unit (Business leaders, technical support, internal functions) to help develop and implement the business strategy. Take the time to network and learn SGS to enable success in your role. 
  • Have an agile approach to your role and be ready to tackle new or unforeseen business challenges. SGS continuously evolves and you’ll need to be ready to handle change and ambiguity on a regular basis. 

Qualifications

To be successful, we would expect you to have:

  • Several years’ experience of business development in an international environment within a global company.
  • Strong technical background ideally in the testing, inspection and certification industry (TIC) or an evolving tech sector.
  • A broad understanding of new trends and shifts in technology, constantly on the edge to identify what could benefit an organization’s business needs and budget.
  • Experience of working at international level within a matrix or decentralized organization. 

Additional Information

We would like to hear from candidates based in the US and ideally from the east coast. This position will require regular and extensive travel.
