Job Description

This position will conduct a wide variety of testing and analysis on Energy Minerals. This job description applies to Laboratory Technicians in the Canadian Energy Minerals operations

  • Receive, inspect, sort and label client samples.
  • Archive, return or dispose of client samples as per work sheet instructions.
  • Log client samples into the LIMS system and prepare sample labels.
  • Sort, crush, pulverize, split, and screen samples as required.
  • Conducts routine testing; Screen test analysis.
  • Verification/Calibration and set up of equipment prior to analysis.
  • Carries out routine equipment maintenance under the direction of his/her supervisor.
  • Perform and record Preventive maintenance and maintenance on all equipment/instruments.
  • Compiles data, analyzes and prepares reports; Provide accurate and timely results
  • Participate in proficiency testing programs and support quality by investigating questionable and unsatisfactory results.
  • Support the Quality/Laboratory Management Systems and participate and support the Quality initiatives.
  • Conduct other chemistry tests as seen suitable by Lab Supervisor/ Lab Manager
  • Maintain accreditation to ISO 9001 and other relevant accreditations

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) is required.
  • A post secondary education (degree and/or diploma) in a Science related program (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Geology etc.) is highly desirable. 
  • A minimum of 1 – 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting is a strong asset. 
  • Good hand/eye coordination when handling samples & various equipment.
  • Intermediate level of creativity required in solving routine problems.
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
