The Food Safety Auditor is responsible for the auditing and inspection of food safety and hygiene systems, food sampling and processes of clients, in all food market sectors for which they are considered eligible. This will be done in accordance with all relevant Global System Procedures and Global Product Procedures, ISO 19011, and the maintenance of our ISO 17021 accredited management system.

Primary Job Responsibilities but not limited to:
• Auditing of SGS Clients against relevant codes of practice and protocols/checklists.
• Food sampling
• Compliance with all Knowledge Solutions global, local and client procedures
• Achieve set KPI’s (compliance to procedures, turn-around times, quality of reports, technical review etc.)
• Operate on SGS digital platforms
• Attend required training and performance assessments
• Promote the image, capability, and integrity of the company
• Operate to the highest standards of ethics, in accordance with the SGS Statement of Integrity
• Conduct peer evaluations on auditors auditing in the same industry sector where required.

The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following:
• Experience in the food industry including at least 2 years work in quality assurance or food safety functions in food production, processing, manufacturing, food retailing, catering, food inspection or enforcement or the equivalent
• Auditing or inspection experience
• A degree (or equivalent qualification) in a food or bio-science related discipline
• Auditor training
• Formal training in food hygiene and HACCP advantageous
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Excellent English vocabulary (verbal and written)
• Driver’s license and own reliable transport
• Own laptop with Windows; and cellular phone
• Willing to travel
