Job Description

  • This position will carry out Materials Management work within the Storage Group following written or verbal work instructions under the direction of the Supervisor of Materials Management. The position will include but is not limited to managing, transporting, and storing of materials including samples, reagents, supplies, rejects and waste. 
  • Follows Training SOP and written work instructions.
  • Performs routine Materials Management work within the Storage Group. 
  • Data entry to the STORE-IT/LSM database.
  • Inventory of client samples for Project Manager or clients.
  • Sorting of samples, rejects and wastes.
  • Placing materials in the correct client sample boxes prior to sample inventory.
  • Sorting and organizing containers received from Operations before moving them into storage (current or long term).
  • Assisting the Supervisor of Materials Management and the Sample Storage Project Manager with the returning function of project samples to clients.  This may involve the gathering of required logistical information from clients to ensure proper delivery and billing to clients.
  • Assisting the Supervisor of Materials Management and the Sample Storage Project Manager with the disposal function of project samples & dumping samples as per the written instructions.
  • Assists where required with the movement of Hazardous Wastes to designated storage areas.
  • Maintains a clean working environment.
  • This position will be working in outside/inside working conditions.
  • Follow all company health, safety and environmental policies.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a high school diploma (or equivalent) is required.
  • A minimum of 1 – 3 years of experience in an industrial setting is a strong asset. 
  • Previous experience in a materials management or warehouse/storage work environment is a strong asset.
  • Good hand/eye coordination when handling and sorting samples
  • Must be comfortable working at heights of up to10 feet.
  • Must use good judgment to identify and resolve problems on the job (When in difficulty refer problems to his/her supervisor for resolution).
  • Must be comfortable with numerals in order to monitor data on a computer screen.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Candidates must be proficient in using various types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
  • Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
  • Ability to work well with others & independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time.
  • Travel to other SGS locations or client location may be required from time to time.
