Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Guide, promote and develop the services of Industrial Regulatory in New Zealand, to achieve the current and future business goals.
- Develop and grow the business through identification of business acquisitions and opportunities across the region, whilst simultaneously maintaining key accounts within the area through relationship building and business development strategies.
- Take accountability for and lead the growth and efficiency of the Upper North Island Regulatory business.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the safety, health and working condition for all direct reports/contractors and clients and members of the public.
- Create a culture of high performance and a winning attitude through effective leadership and communication to ensure full utilization of teams.
- Manage local teams of inspectors, technicians and engineers to ensure operational requirements from scheduling, execution, and invoicing meet business requirements.
- Assist the General Manager in identifying new business strategies and implement to maximize business returns whilst minimizing exposure and risk for the company.
- Take accountability and leadership for the growth and efficiency of the North Island client base by growth of services and client management.
- Maintain regular and effective communication to the regional teams and local team members to ensure high level of commitment and employee satisfaction.
- Plan and budget for the resources necessary for the Upper North Island business to achieve targets and objectives.
- Provide necessary financial information to the General Manager within required timelines including but not limited to analysis of monthly P&L, labour utilization data, spending review, outstanding debtors, and capital spend.
- Collaborate with and manage Branch Supervisors and Team Leaders to ensure trainees are recruited and inducted into the business and ensure their effective utilization is maintained within their level of ability while under training.
- Undertake annual performance and salary reviews of direct reports.
- Ensure internal and external audits are completed on schedule and all corrective actions are closed out within agreed timeframes.
- Manage operational performance, payroll and HR issues to ensure the business operates effectively.
- Identify training and development of direct reports in line with business objectives and individual performance goals.
- Ensure all activities are carried out with regard and recognition of Operational Integrity requirements and personal safety.
- Undertake all other relevant work requests relevant to the position.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Science or Engineering with practical experience from within the Engineering sector, preferably in Maintenance, Manufacturing, Reliability, Asset Management, Consulting or Technical Services roles.
- Business acumen demonstrated by qualifications or experience managing stand alone cost centers consisting of high performing teams of engineering/technical specialists and administrators
- Exposure to financials and general business accounting principles essential.
- Extensive industry experience with a thorough understanding of New Zealand statutory requirements.
