Job Description

Job Title: Trainee Seed Analyst

Hours: 40 hours per week - during our busy harvesting period (Aug - Oct), some weekend work/additional hours will be required and paid as overtime

Job Location: Driffield

Salary: £8.91 per hour

We have an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Seed Analyst to join our global organisation. The person will have mainly inhouse training which will be ongoing to gain the necessary recognised qualification to become a Seed Analyst, some experience of grain testing would be an advantage however not essential as full training will be given.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is keen to learn new skills, you will need to be hard working, forward thinking and energetic and able to work as part of our small team.

Key Accountabilities;

  • Train to a recognised standard for Seed Analysis
  •  Training to perform Grain identification and Testing
  • Use of spreadsheets to record results
  • Reporting of results on Lab reporting system
  • Work within a small enthusiastic team
  • Communication is key with both fellow workers and going forward clients
  • Be prepared to continue training and learning the many aspects of the Seed and Grain Laboratory
  • Occasional training may be necessary off site e.g NIAB in Cambridge for final Seed Analyst Exam

Qualifications

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in working within a laboratory/agricultural environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong, positive work ethic and be educated to GCSE level (minimum). The main requirement is that you have the ability to learn quickly and respond positively to taking on new responsibilities and challenges, you will communicate effectively and work well with others, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.

In addition to the above you’ll also need to demonstrate the following;

  • GCSE’s (or equivalent) Science, Mathematics & English at Grade A-C or equivalent experience in a Testing facility or Agricultural environment.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Computer literate (MS Office)
