Job Description

  • Receiving laboratory supplies and samples ensuring delivery correctness
  • Record keeping of shipping temperature monitoring devices upon receipt
  • Unpacking and placing samples and materials into appropriate storage Reporting any broken or damaged sample receipt and any sample information discrepancies to relevant department supervisor
  • Maintaining and following up with supervisors regarding samples placed on hold due to lack of information or damages
  • Entering the sample information into LIMS as per relevant SGS procedures and identifying the testing requirements provided by client
  • Generating Lab-sheets and sample labels
  • Delivering Lab-sheets into appropriate departments
  • Maintaining sample receiving area organized and free of clutter
  • Managing the archiving of the samples
  • Responsible for the proper disposal of retained samples as per SGS LSS guidelines
  • Participates in department meetings pertaining to standards and processes

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • A post-secondary education in sciences (chemistry or biology) program would be preferred
  • Previous experience in an administrative or technical role would be an asset.
  • Prior technical experience in a chemistry related role would be preferred.
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions / Standard Operating Procedures in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Candidates must be proficient in using various type of computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.) and be able to demonstrate good keyboarding skills.
  • Must be highly organized and able to work effectively and efficiently in a demanding environment with frequently changing priorities.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.
  • Ability to work well with others & independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
