Job Description

  • To research and develop test method/approach and SOP for examining antimicrobial and microbial filtration efficiency performance of consumer product and novel material
  • To estimate and monitor the effort required on projects and respond promptly to deviations from estimation
  • To prepare short and long term plans for the laboratory activities and to identify future areas of activity for the laboratory
  • To ensure adequate facilities exist for conducting laboratory activities and manage related purchase.
  • To be responsible for the quality of work produced by the laboratory and to ensure the quality management system be in compliance to ISO 17025 standard
  • For joint projects, ensure liaison with scientific personnel in partnering laboratory to ensure projects proceed satisfactorily
  • To plan and deliver training for operation staff
  • To keep abreast of the scientific literature relevant to the laboratory activities
  • To provide specialist advice, opinions and information to other laboratory and to clients
  • For any renovation and design of laboratory, estimate the effort and monitor the project progress
  • To support frontline / business unit for technical sales kit preparation or any enquiry on anti-microorganism and filtration efficiency performance

Qualifications

  • Master degree or above, majoring in Microbiology, Virology or relevant Biological sciences with hands-on experience on manipulating tissue culture of mammalian cell lines and propagation of viral culture including bacteriophage
  • Experience on virus titre quantification by plaque assay and TCID50 methods
  • Computer knowledge in Windows application
  • Knowledge in laboratory quality system requirement or familiar with ISO 17025 is of advantage
  • Good in spoken and written English
  • Experience as Project leader
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
