Our Christchurch facility is looking to boost its talented team by filling the following position:

                                             Certified Welding Inspector

We are looking for a Certified Welding Inspector to join our team to fill a fulltime permanent role working in our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) welding inspection and consultancy services facility in Christchurch. 

This is a highly successful NZ and global business that has been well known in the marketplace since the launch in 1976.  Our client base is extensive, and we operate in all major industrial groups from dairy, power generation, oil and gas, chemical, pulp and paper process plants through to constructions, building and light engineering.  

Reporting to the South Island Operations Manager, the primary responsibility of the Inspectors role is to provide consultancy services to assist our clients with their technical challenges and maintenance including development of welding procedures and witnessing of welder’s qualification tests. The role also includes carrying out welding inspections in accordance with relevant codes and standards to ensure our client requirements are met.  This can be testing on a variety of products and components covering: metals, plastics, construction and building materials.  

Qualifications

If you have the below qualities we are interested to hear from you:

  • One of the following certifications:  CBIP CWI, CSWIP 3.1, AS 2214.
  • Excellent knowledge of AS/NZS1554.1, AS2980, ISO9606-1.
  • Experience in developing welding procedures (WPS / PQR) and witnessing of welder’s qualification tests.
  • Customer and client service focus.
  • A current driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites around NZ. 
  • Able to use computers and technology.
  • Able to work well with others in a team environment 

It would be advantageous to have NDT certifications, however the company will support someone to gain their NDT skills in Magnetic or Penetrant areas.
