Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Responsible for overseeing the laboratory operation assigned, specific on handling operational management and technical support for operations.
  • To handle the laboratory management in absence of posted laboratory manager and ensure the daily delivery of contractual laboratory services.
  • Provide advice and assist clients on technical inquiries and scope of testing.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES

  • Ensure laboratory excellence of Natural Resource laboratory assigned and contribute to the SGS Malaysia Natural Resource laboratory’s drive for quality and success.
  • Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of ISO/IEC 17025 as well as NR Group Quality Systems in all laboratories.
  • Liaise with clients for operational inquiries and ensure all root cause of non-conformities or customer-complaints are investigated and identified with appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of all analyses to meet turnaround time.
  • Adhere to group and client-side HSE safety procedure.
  • Keep updated on industry & SGS best practices with regards to the use of appropriate analytical methods for the commodities serviced.
  • Ensure the participation and excellence in Proficiency Test and Round-Robin program of designated laboratory operation.
  • Adhere and operate to the highest standards of ethics, in accordance with the SGS Code of Integrity and local HR policies.
  • Ensure laboratory supplies are monitored and controlled and liaise with company Admin to items related to orders/purchases.
  • Ensure correct testing methods are properly implemented and QA/QC procedures are in place and followed.
  • Ensure team compliance to testing procedure and provide trainings related to daily operation.
  • Ensure reports/certificates are reviewed for quality and technical aspect. 
  • Ensure all analytical equipment, apparatus etc. are maintained and calibrated as per the required schedule.
  • Ensure Manpower Schedule are organised to support the operation
  • Ensure compliance to SGS and local legal regulation that applies to laboratory operation and coordinate with SGS OI and HSE for guidance and implementation
  • Ensure Good Housekeeping and Good Laboratory practice in the laboratory.
  • Adherence to SGS Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policy by uphold a good safety behavior and exercising necessary standard and process when carry out your responsibilities at all times to ensure compliance to the HSE requirements.

Qualifications

PROFILE

  • Bachelor degree in Chemistry or related field from recognizes university/college
  • At least 5 years related experience, with min 2 years at the leadership level in operational management. Willing to learn and open for improvement
