Job Description

Oversee all aspects of radiation safety within the organization, liaising closely with OBTL and legislative authorities.

Provide advice, guidance and training on radiographic safety matters.

Qualifications

Certified by Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) panel consultants with at least three (3) years’ experience in TENORM monitoring related activities. RPO shall possessed at least a degree in Science or Engineering disciplines.

Specific Responsibility

  • Prepare and update the radiation protection program whenever necessary or when directed by the AELB.
  • · Provide emergency planning and preparedness program, report any radiological emergency to the AELB, carry out investigation.
  • Identify and analyze radiological hazards at the place of work, the environment and waste disposal sites.
  • Arrange medical surveillance program for radiation workers
  • Identify the types and levels of radiation protection training for radiation workers.
  • Classify and label the work area according to Radiation Protection Regulations (Basic Safety Standards)1988.
  • Provide work procedures for radioactivity in the normal and abnormal operations.
  • Prepare and implement dose monitoring program for radiation workers, the work area and the environment.
  • Ensure that radiation protection equipment’s are in a good state and is always used by the employee.
  • Ensure that the transportation of radioactive material and its waste is carried out in accordance with Radiation Protection Regulations (Transport) 1989.
  • Ensure that the recruitment and dismissal of radiation workers comply with the procedures established by the AELB
  • Adherence to SGS Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policy by uphold a good safety behavior and
  • exercising necessary standard and process when carry out your responsibilities at all times to ensure
  • compliance to the HSE requirements.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by your reporting manager and/or Senior Management
  • Inspect, keep and update the following records:
  1.  Medical records of radiation workers [(LPTA/BM/5) (Section A)].
  2. Radiation exposure records of workers [(LPTA/BM/5) (Section B)].
  3. Radiation detectors calibration records.
  4. External radiation levels records.
  5. Hiring and dismissal of radiation workers records.
  6. Storage records.
  7. Radioactive material disposal records.
  8. TENORM waste treatment records.
  9. Transportation of radioactive material/TENORM and its wastes records.
  10. Radiation accidents records.
  11. Records on radiological and environmental monitoring reports of licensee.
  12. Other records required by the AELB from time to time
