Job Description

·         The primary responsibility of the Chemist is to provide external and internal customer analytical requirements including maintaining conformance to analytical procedures including testing, instruments maintenance and documentation.

·        The chemist will be the focal point for the GC in the lab. 

·         The chemist will be responsible to perform daily testing, laboratory support functions and assisting relevant personnel with special project as need and assigned: including the following:

·         To coach and train laboratory technician on proper analytical technique and procedures

·         To maintain high level of quality, control and quality assurance of all analysis carried out in the laboratory

·         Assure data reliability to adherence through quality assurance

·         Additionally provide technical support and guidance to the lab personnel

·         Investigate quality incident related to the laboratory

·         Responsible and accountable for all laboratory activity under the direction as well as maintain ISO 9001, 17025, internal SOP and client’s work requirement relating to analysis and data generation

·         Timely completion of schedule maintenance and calibration of instrumentation

·         Additional to this the technician must ensure compliance to all company’s program, contributing to meet customer service, commitment to maintain laboratory operations, complying to QA/QC, HSE, environment and regulatory standards.

·         Support laboratory goals to meet operational excellence

·         Compliance to testing procedure on return and support procedural development

·         Regularly review test method and protocol for compliance to industry and international standards

·         To provide regular updates to client on the analysis progress

·         Help, response and resolve corrective and preventive action

·         To support meeting quality objectives in the SGS quality and continuous improvement program

·         Ensure full compliance with all regulatory standards against SGS QHSE standards, purchase supply and maintain inventory

·         Inform supervisor of supplier non-conformance

·         Support the chemical analysis and experiment through adherence to quality procedures

·         Implement changes to LIMS database testing and specification tables as required

·         Maintain and calibrate equipment systems to support the testing processes

·         Ability to work at odd hours when called upon

·         Identify equipment that should be repaired, replaced and initiatives recommend suitable purchase

·         Adhere to SGS ethics policy

·         Adhere to clients confidentiality agreement

·         Any other duty as required by the company

Qualifications

·         Degree in Chemistry or related field from recognized university/college.

·         2 -3 years or more working experience in Oil & Gas industry where applicable.

·         Experience in laboratory application especially GC.
