Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Supervisor Maintenance this position is responsible for the planning and execution of all turnaround maintenance and capital projects at the Moose Jaw Refinery. This position will be responsible for ensuring all regulatory required inspections are planned, executed, documented and completed. This position will be required to track the progress of the turnaround compared to plan and will be required to adjust as required to ensure compliance with the schedule.  This position will be responsible for tracking the costs of the turnaround and reporting these costs daily as compared to plan.  This position will be responsible for tracking the change work orders and the approval of these orders working closely with the Senior Supervisor Maintenance.

Duties

  • Responsible for developing the schedule and plan for the turnaround.
  • Responsible for developing the plan using Microsoft Project.
  • Ensuring that all required maintenance activities are completed as required.
  • Ensure that all required inspections are completed, documented and reported as required.
  • Coordinate all required outages and access to areas of the plant with projects during the turnaround to ensure project activities do not create delays in the turnaround. 
  • Participate in project planning activities to be completed during the turnaround. 
  • Ensure all planned project activities are included in the turnaround and that appropriate communication with operations occurs in a timely manner.
  • Integrate operational steps into the turnaround planning and execution to ensure all appropriate and required items are included and completed as to the plan.
  • Assists with the sourcing, logistics, site planning for all support services required during the turnaround
  • May review PSSR at turnover on behalf of facility management.
  • Review all required maintenance and inspection requirements to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements are met to ensue a three-year turnaround period can be met.  Make recommendations to close any identified gaps in the inspection requirements.
  • Ability to plan all maintenance activities to ensure all inspections are completed as required.
  • Plan the safe shutdown of all refinery processes and ensure lock out tag out procedures for all equipment are identified, planned, executed, documented and followed.  This will include the safe restart of the facility. 
  • Assist with the planning and preparation or workorders to streamline the process and to remove any identified roadblocks in the permitting process.
  • Review the maintenance backlog to ensure all required maintenance is completed during the turnaround.
  • Ensure all inspection reports are properly filled out and saved in the equipment files.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSS&E) through participation in all applicable HSS&E programs and ensures safe operation of the Moos Jaw Refinery in compliance with all Company HSS&E policies and procedures.
  • Supports the preplanning of critical lifts
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

  • Functional technical skills with the ability to:
    • Plan and sequence all turnaround activities to allow for optimization of workforce and timelines for completion of all turnaround related maintenance and capital work.
    • Provide daily reports on progress of turnaround to schedule and costs. 
  • Ability to manage contracts from creation to execution and closure.
  • People interpersonal skills with the ability to:
    • Work collaboratively and effectively with other members of the operations and maintenance team as well as operation management at Moose Jaw.
    • Express ideas clearly, both in written and oral communication
    • Represent and promote the company in a responsible, positive and professional manner
  • Ability to prioritize assignments, deal with interruptions, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, while not sacrificing safety or the attention to detail.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years working as a turnaround planner. 
  • Proficient in P6
  • Working knowledge of maintenance requirements for pumps, compressors, motors, turbines, fractionation equipment, furnaces, heat exchangers and all other equipment requiring servicing and inspection during the turnaround.
  • Proficient in the use of PC’s and Microsoft Windows software, including PowerPoint, Project, Word and Excel.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work involves office and field work to confirm all activities.
  • Work will involve some outdoor activities.
  • Must be available for regular scheduled work hours.
