Job Description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • A member of the Global IT Infrastructure & Services Team, the selected candidate will be part of a team of IT specialists in charge of managing the company’s global IT Data Center operating 24x7 hosting  business critical applications used by SGS affiliates worldwide.

 

  • Technologies used:

­    Database technologies:  Oracle Database Server, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL

­    Enterprise Server OS: Microsoft Windows Server, Linux systems

­    Storage Solutions:  NetApp

­    Virtualization:  VMWare vSphere, Citrix XenApp

­    Web Application Services:  Oracle Weblogic, Oracle iAS, TomCat, Microsoft IIS, JBoss

­    Enterprise Monitoring Tools:  Nagios, VMWare Operations Manager, Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control

­    Backup Solution:  Commvault

­    Cloud:  Amazon Web Services; Azure

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working in shifts covering 24x7 global IT operation
  • Perform Database provisioning, setup, configuration, patch deployments  and upgrades
  • Database maintenance (storage, reorganization, backups)
  • Backup and Recovery using RMAN and MSSQL Native backup
  • Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters and Automatic Storage Management
  • Experience with Windows and MSSQL Clustering
  • Performance tuning and optimization
  • Security and resource management
  • Perform systems monitoring & troubleshooting
  • Systems performance analysis
  • Proactive and corrective actions
  • Management of data backup procedures
  • Define & maintain operational procedures
  • Follow change management procedures
  • Develop system management utilities
  • Deploy new releases of the application
  • Work with the infrastructure and development teams (Geneva and Manila based)
  • Complies with relevant Management Systems

Qualifications

PROFILE

  • Degree in computer science or related field. Exceptional candidates will be considered in the absence of a degree.
  • Oracle Certification an advantage

REQUIRED SKILLS

Experience/Technical Knowledge

  • At least 3 years practical experience in running complex IT infrastructures
  • Experience in working in a multinational environment
  • Hardware:

§  X86_64 server architectures (Intel, AMD)

§  Network technologies and architecture

  • Software:

§  Solid working experience in Oracle Database technologies

§  Proven expertise on Microsoft and/or Linux operating system environment

§  Working knowledge on either of the following web server technologies:

­    Oracle Weblogic and IAS,

­    Tomcat

­    JBoss

§  Knowledgeable on server virtualization technologies such as VMWare

§  Preferably with working experience on storage solutions such as NetApp, and backup solutions such as Commvault

  • Networking:

o    Practical experience in using TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, proxies, firewalls

  • Cloud:

§  Preferably with work experiences in managing and supporting systems, applications, and/or network in Amazon Web Services or Azure cloud platform

 

      In addition, some or all of the following skills would constitute an advantage:

§  Oracle PL/SQL scripting

§  Shell scripting

 

Relationships

  • Work closely with team members
  • Work closely with the helpdesk, network and development team to identify areas for improvements (infrastructure, application performance)
  • IT management team: to help improve the service.
  • Business: regular contacts with management team, country’s IT teams and end-users
  • Work as project member on global infrastructure projects
