Job Description

You will be responsible for: 

  • Ensure that correct procedures are utilised in all aspects of sampling, recording, preparation, analysis, storage and reporting.
  • To ensure accuracy, precision and traceability of prepared samples.
  • Assist with the preventative maintenance of all preparation and laboratory equipment.  
  • Assist with the calibration of all preparation and laboratory equipment.
  • Follow routine and non-routine sampling instructions from the Supervisor.
  • Perform all duties as per your Industrial Agreement classification, including: Sampling, Collection, Preparation, Analysis, Reporting and Validation of samples from automatic sample stations.
  • Other tasks and duties, as required and as directed by supervisor or management.
  • Be compliant to all SGS QHSE and HR policies and procedures.
  • At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.

Qualifications

SGS will provide you with training as required and on the job learning, but as the successful candidate you will also have: 

  • Previous coal sampling and testing experience would be an advantage.
  • Good computer skills i.e. Excel beneficial.
  • Progress towards or completion of relevant higher formal qualifications (preferred).
  • Previous experience in general mineral laboratory environment (preferred).
  •  Appropriate on-the-job training with 6-12 months experience in a laboratory or chemical process.
  • Customer service orientation.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transport are essential.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work shift and rosters and meet tight deadlines.
