Job Description
The Team
Ad Products & Add-Ons helps hirers choose and use products that improve customer experience, value, and sustainable business growth. The team owns the APIs, UI widgets, business logic, and product catalogue capabilities that power these experiences, along with products designed to increase hirer value, reach, and yield.
The team sits at the intersection of product experience and monetisation, creating flexible ways for hirers to discover, select, and use add-ons and related products. Its work helps make purchasing simpler and more relevant for customers, while supporting SEEK’s broader goal of growing sustainable revenue through better product mix and stronger budget utilisation.
You will work with software engineers, staff and senior staff engineers, engineering managers, product managers, designers, data engineers, business analysts, architects, security, AI, platform and other engineering teams across SEEK. You’ll be expected to influence without relying on hierarchy, create clarity across team boundaries, and make dependencies, risks, ownership and technical decisions visible.
The Role
A Staff Engineer is a senior technical leader and in-team technical specialist within SEEK Engineering. You will own the technical direction of the team and the systems it builds and operates, while influencing adjacent teams and the wider Hirer Monetisation and Insights sub-domain.
You will design and build fit-for-purpose products, platforms and services; strengthen system health; and help create the engineering practices that allow people and AI-enabled tools to deliver safely and effectively. You will connect technical decisions to customer and commercial outcomes, lead through ambiguity, and make the trade-offs required to keep delivery sustainable over time.
A modern Staff Engineer at SEEK works across domains, is not overly stack-focused, and uses sound judgement to balance delivery, quality, security and maintainability. They are deeply curious, continuously learning, and willing to experiment with new technologies and ways of working. They use AI and emerging tools responsibly to improve engineering practice, while applying strong judgement and establishing practical guardrails for safe use.
You’ll also be a hands-on technical leader in the team’s day-to-day work, helping shape architecture, guide delivery, support production incidents, improve engineering practices, and make repositories and workflows more AI-ready. AI is changing how software is built and how SEEK creates customer value, so you will be expected to use AI coding tools as part of your normal engineering practice and to help the team establish repeatable, measurable and safe workflows. You will also contribute hands-on technical leadership to production LLM and agent capabilities where they are relevant to HMI products and systems.
Key Accountabilities

Set and maintain a pragmatic roadmap balancing customer value, reliability, security, resilience, observability, cost, performance and technical debt.

Improve developer experience and delivery flow through strong CI/CD, testing, observability, documentation and operational practices.
Use endorsed AI coding tools responsibly across the delivery lifecycle, and help make the team’s repositories, workflows and practices more AI-ready.
Lead by example in adopting AI for engineering, sharing learnings and lifting capability across the wider engineering group.
Qualifications
Extensive experience designing, building and operating production software systems, APIs or platforms in a cloud environment.
Staff-level technical leadership with ownership of architecture, roadmap and platform evolution.
Hands-on experience with AI coding tools and agentic workflows, plus a track record of improving engineering productivity and quality through AI-enabled practices.
Production experience with LLM-powered applications, agents or workflows, including good judgement around guardrails, quality standards and human oversight.
Strong architectural judgement across secure coding, CI/CD, testing, observability, incident response and resilience.
